Feedstuffs: Food supply responds to population growth

THE world will be challenged to meet predicted demand for food in 2050 but is responding well, according to Dr. Douglas Southgate Jr., a demographer and professor of agricultural and environmental economics at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Indeed, if global population growth comes in on projections, not only will the world have enough food, but food prices will be constant with current prices, he said, adding that the food supply in 2050 will be both affordable and sufficient.
