Staff Reports Good Weekend Sale Turnouts

The First Ever Magnolia Classic Brangus Sale

The first Magnolia Classic Brangus Sale attracted an audience of cattle buyers from Texas and other Southeastern states to Pickens, Miss., at the Cain Cattle Company sale facilities on Friday, October 7.

The Sale was hosted by nine Brangus member consignors from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Florida offering genetic lines from sires Csonka, Lombardi, Lucky, and Revenue just to name a few. The 100 lots of Brangus females sold included 3-in-1’s, pairs, bred and open heifers, plus several show heifer prospects.

IBBA’s Executive Vice President Joe Massey attended the event and had the opportunity to network with numerous prospective buyers and cattle producers. Buyers unable to attend the event could bid and buy lots online. Massey will be in Fairmount, Ga., October 21, to answer any questions and interact with members at the Salacoa Valley Brangus Bull and Female Sale.

CX Advantage Red Brangus Sale

CX Advantage SaleSeventy-three lots of Red Brangus bulls and females sold last weekend at the CX Advantage Sale in Weimer, Texas, at the Cox Excalibur Ranch.

The proceeds from the first lot were donated to benefit the Weimer and Columbus FFA Chapters. Of the total lots, two sire prospects were sold along with five embryo lots, three show heifer prospects, four open heifers, 56 bred females, and six bulls. A few of these purchases were made online.

“It was good to see a strong demand for Red Brangus genetics in spite of the dry weather conditions we’ve been experiencing,” said Ben Spitzer, IBBA’s Marketing Program Director, who attended the production sale. Spitzer, along with IBBA’s newest staff members Brittni Drennan and Lindsey Matli, will be present at Doguet’s Annual Bull and Female Sale coming up October 15, at the Diamond D Ranch at Poteet, Texas.
